이 집의 주인공은 6개의 서로 다른 마당이다. 그 마당들이 오래 살되 지겹지 않은 집, 일상을 담되 삶의 다양한 순간들을 다르게 담을 수 있는 공간이 되길 바랬다.

Omnibus house는 서울 인근의 조용한 자연 속 작은 마을 양평에 자리하고 있다. 대지는 10미터의 고저차를 갖고 있는 경사지에 위치하고 있고, 천천히 흐르는 강, 우거진 숲, 언덕진 초원, 관리된 이웃집 잔디조경 등 다양한 자연에 둘러싸여 있다. 먼저, 서로 다른 레벨에6개의 마당을 앉혔다: 한강을 바라보는 메인 마당, 나무 한 그루가 반겨주는 입구마당, 입체적인 조경 속의 운동마당, 주변의 시선에 방해받지 않는 시크릿 마당, 자연지반 위에서 아이가 놀 수 있는 놀이마당, 쓰레기, 가스, 전기 등을 처리하는 뒷마당.

외벽은 건축 형태를 구현하기 위한 것이 아닌 이 여섯 개의 마당의 배경이 되기 위해 존재한다. 거주자가 건물을 하나의 오브제로 인지하지 않고, 여러 개의 장소로 인지하기위해 각각의 벽은 마당에 독립성을 부여한다. 곡면의 코너는 마당을 감싸는 제스처를 하면서 자연스럽게 마당 출입구이자 캐노피 역할을 한다. 외벽재료인 벽돌은 각 마당들의 개성을 부여하면서도 통일성을 유지할 수 있도록 한다. 마당들의 특징과 사용시간대의 태양의 고도를 고려하여 벽돌벽들은 다른 색상, 다른 각도의 쌓기 방식이 사용되었다.

내부공간은 6개의 다른 마당을 연결하는 공간이다. 선형적인 내부공간을 이동하면서 외부마당들을 중간중간 만날 수 있도록 계획하였다. 각 마당의 특징을 극대화하기 위해 실내는 흰색과 나무마감의 중성적인 톤을 사용하였다.

Omnibus House는 거주자에게 여섯 개의 독립된 챕터로 구성된 삶의 배경이 되도록 하였다. 거주자는 집을 특정한 오브제의 형태로 기억하기 보단 경험의 장소들로 기억할 것이다.

The main character of the Omnibus House is the six different courtyards. The house aims to be stay longer but not tedious space, containing everyday life as well as the diverse moments in different background.

Yangpyeong is a small and peaceful village in the nature near Seoul. The house is situated on the steep slope with 10-meter level difference facing slow flowing river, dense forest, hilled meadow, controlled neighbourhoods garden. First, the six different courtyards are located on the different level: the main courtyard with river view, the entrance courtyard with a single tree, the exercise courtyard with diverse levelled landscape, the secret courtyard with free from other’s attention, the play courtyard where the kid can play on the natural ground, the back yard with trashcan and gas tank.

The exterior walls are not supposed to be a part of the certain shape of the building, but backgrounds of the six courtyards. The walls isolate the courtyards to residents be recognized the house not as a single object, but multiple places The curve walls are embracing the outdoor spaces and the curved corner can be the entrance with the canopy. The exterior material, brick individuates the courtyards as well as keep the consistency. The walls have difference colours and the tectonics of the bricks considering the character of the courtyards and altitude of the sun at the common use time.

The interior of the house links the six courtyards. The residents meet the courtyards in the middle of the linear interior space. The indoor space is neutral with the white and wood tone to emphasise the outdoor characters.

Omnibus House is a background of the residents’ life with six individual chapters. The resident will remember the house not as a certain shape but places of experience.
